About this experience

Description: Learn basic stitches and techniques of hand made hoop embroidery, and create your own unique 6” embroidery hoop project!


No previous sewing experience required and all materials provided.


Learn a new skill that unlocks your creativity while calming the mind and body in a friendly and welcoming environment. Hosted by Leah Gies, owner of Stray ThreadsCraft & Design.



Participants will receive a kit of embroidery suppliers including:
1 6” bamboo embroidery hoop
1 pack of sewing needles
2 pieces of embroidery fabric
4 bundles of embroidery floss
1 dissolvable embroidery pattern stencil of your choosing (or make your own)

I am a self taught embroidery and textile artist that turned a love for fabric and thread into a
career as an artist and designer when I started Stray Threads Craft and Design in 2017. I also
have a background in youth work and education, working as a support worker for the
Vancouver School Board for 15 years before retraining as an Illustrator and Graphic Designer in
2022. I have recently relocated from Vancouver to the Comox Valley and love the friendly
people, slower pace and amazing landscapes of this special community.
