Sunday Sew Club!

in this month-long class, each Sunday, come and sew with support

About this experience

This weekly class will be your bright light in a grey winter!

Bring your projects, and join Lori for tea and sewing.

What will you make?

Maybe you'll be starting a new exciting project that helps you expand your skills?

Maybe you'll bring your basket on unfinished projects and spend a month working through them?

The structure of this class is quite open, so each week will look a bit like this:

  • Week one: You should have a project chosen and fabric washed. If you can get things cut out in advance you'll get to the fun part faster, but many people prefer to cut here to confirm sizing and use our big tables!

  • Weekly check in: what are you working on? What are your specific goals this week? Were you able to sew between classes (we don't assign homework, but if you're able to sew in between classes, projects move more quickly- which is not better or worse than just sewing for three hours a week at the Spool!)

  •

  • Notes are taken about specific skills that will come up (oooooh, zippers? french seams? altering fit?)

  •

  • Throughout the three hours, you are invited to watch the instructions and tutorials for each others' projects, OR just keep your head down and focus on your project (again, if this is your only sewing time, you may prefer to focus. People who can sew at home may enjoy watching all the tutorials and going home to practice!)

The best part? No dishes to wash, laundry to do, emails to answer or people asking you for things. This is YOUR time to come and learn, grow, create and relax on a Sunday afternoon!

The key thing to remember is that this should be for YOU to enjoy, and use the time as you like. Bring your fancy coffee or snacks, get some friends together to sew together!

*Also note: This truly is a learning journey, with a teacher guiding each of you towards your sewing goals. It's a small group class, and people work at their own pace. Students who prefer to take a little more time, or who miss a class may need to work on homework between classes, or book in for Open Sew time. We do our best to encourage and support you in finishing your project, but make no guarantee of completion if students miss classes or need extra time. We are all individuals in learning style!

Because of the nature and small size of our classes, we are happy to switch you to another session or offer a refund with a minimum of two weeks notice.

Within 14 days of your starting class, we are happy to transfer your seat to a friend, but there are no refunds available- FINAL SALE. No shows are not eligible for refunds.

If you are a shift worker (or partnered with one, affecting your ability to plan) or have irregular ability to plan for other reasons, saving your registration for when you are certain about your availability reduces the stress for everyone- and if a class sells out before you get in, reach out to be added to a waitlist or to see if we can squeeze you in. We can often accommodate a last minute extra person, especially if you've been in touch in advance.
