Make a Jacket! Kelly Anorak

Make a Jacket! Kelly Anorak

October (Fridays) 6-27th; 12-3pm

This Intermediate class will run for 12 hours over four weeks, and you will go home with a new west-coast-ideal rain jacket or lightweight fall jacket. It's a GREAT skill builder, and forgiving in fit. Learn to make gusseted pockets, casings, hoods, facings and install snaps and zippers!

From the designer:

"Style meets function with the Kelly Anorak; a classic shape with a modern cut, this simple coat is the perfect choice for transitional weather.

Lightweight and unlined, it features a two piece cuffed sleeve, optional drawstring waist, gusseted flap pocket and a zipper placket with snap buttons.  View A will keep you warm and dry with a roomy three piece hood, while View B features a classic stand-up collar.

Kelly is just right made up in light to medium-weight woven fabric such as twill, gabardine, and linen, and will make the ultimate rain coat when sewn with a waterproof fabric like ripstop or goretex."

For our wet-coast weather, I suggest Dintex, an easy to sew, breathable and water proof jacket material available locally through Thread Theory Designs. They also carry the kits you need for snaps and zippers! Use coupon code PICKUP to avoid shipping fees. You can pick it up in Comox, or arrange for me to bring it to the first class.
